Neutral Simple Modern About Me Collage Instagram Post.png

I am an artist & writer who currently lives in a small town on the border of Texas and Louisiana.

I have a BFA in Painting and a MFA in Creative Writing, but I’ve never cared enough about the business of art - the CV, the portfolio, hanging things on white walls, getting published in journals—proving myself to others and getting my ego stroked a little bit. So, I don’t have much to show for myself besides my person.

To me, being an artist is more about who you are than how much you produce. It seeps into everything you do. From the way you plate your food to the photos you snap on a walk around the block. But when I do end up doing something that I intend to show to the world, I take my time with it.

I guess you could say I went to the Donna Tartt school of productivity.

I must admit, some of that slowness comes from the distraction of living in survival mode. But the older I get, the less I’m motivated by urgency and ambition. I am moved by devotion and patience—by getting the ideas right. My ideas spend years moving through cycles of death and rebirth, taking different forms and passing through different mediums before arriving at their final incarnation. I’m in no rush.

I have many hobbies and interests, but a long-standing one has been creating websites. Since the dawn of the internet, I have been deeply invested in the act of sharing and receiving information, and using this technology to learn and express myself artistically. Making websites has always been my favorite form of communication online.

Of course, it’s impossible to ignore how dark internet technology has become. I’m deeply disturbed by the way Silicon Valley has encroached upon our lives, and I’m trying to figure out how to engage with the world as artificial intelligence is now forced upon us.

This space is one answer.

It is my way of using the internet in the way I believe it should be used: to freely and generously share knowledge and wisdom in depth, to offer an intelligent, thoughtful perspective, and to create the possibility of real connection with those I’d never come across in real life—sans all the noise, conflict, and competition.

I have no intention of manipulating you into anything, and I don’t need your attention or validation. I’m just here, creating a place for those who share my frequency to find me and share in that solidarity.

Sincerely,
